Who we are

MaterialCalcs provides free landscaping material calculators and guides for homeowners and landscapers.

What data we collect

We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking tools of any kind. Here is the limited data that is processed when you use the site, and why:

Server logs. When you visit our site, our web server automatically records your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and the date and time of your visit. This data is used for security monitoring and troubleshooting. Server logs are retained for a limited period and regularly rotated.

Calculator inputs. Our calculators process all data in your browser. Your dimensions, measurements, and other inputs are never sent to our servers and are not stored anywhere. When you close the page, the data is gone.

Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply to you and keep it only as long as needed for that conversation.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies — the few the site needs to load safely and quickly. They are always active because the site cannot work properly without them. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner: there is nothing optional to accept or reject.

Cloudflare (cf_clearance). Set by our security and performance provider, Cloudflare. It verifies that you have passed a security check and is strictly necessary for the site to function. It expires within 24 hours.

NinjaFirewall (NFWSESSID). Set by our firewall plugin to protect the site from malicious traffic. It is a session cookie and expires when you close your browser.

LiteSpeed Cache (_lscache_vary). Used by our caching system to serve the correct version of pages. It is a functional cookie and does not track you.

Third-party services

Cloudflare. We use Cloudflare for security (firewall, DDoS protection) and performance (CDN). Cloudflare may process your IP address and request data to provide these services. Cloudflare acts as a data processor on our behalf. You can read Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy for details.

International data transfers

Our website is hosted in the European Union. Cloudflare, our security and content delivery provider, is based in the United States, so request data it processes may be transferred to the United States. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework — an adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission — which provides the legal basis for this transfer. You can verify its certification on the official Data Privacy Framework list at dataprivacyframework.gov/list.

Your privacy rights

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA): Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict processing of, and receive a portable copy of your personal data. You also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. Our legal basis for processing server log data is legitimate interest (site security and functionality), and for emails you send us it is our legitimate interest in replying to you.

If you are in the United States: Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to know what personal data we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal data. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Global Privacy Control (GPC): We do not sell or share personal data and do not track you across sites, so there is nothing you need to opt out of. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we respect it. Learn more at globalprivacycontrol.org.

Children’s privacy

Our site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
